It’s amazing that one of my daughter’s favourite books is one I didn’t even especially pick out for her.
We received it in a small bundle of second-hand books from a local buy and sell on Facebook. I had actually wanted the fabric “monkey book” and Kiss Kiss! was just thrown in with it.
But it quickly became a family favourite.
It’s the story of a little baby or toddler hippo, who forgets to give his mama a kiss.
He goes out in the day and along the way he sees and hears other baby animals giving their mamas a “kiss kiss”.
He eventually remembers what he’s forgotten, and rushes home to find his mama.
This is a lovely book, with a simple and sweet story and cute illustrations, short, repetitive sentences, which are especially good for babies and toddlers, and with lots to see and identify on each page.
It’s just such a cute book, and I think babies and toddlers love it because it shows the special bond you have with your mama.
Plus most kids love animals and identifying animals at his age. Kiss Kiss! is full of animals, and there’s little ones hiding on every page.
