My daughter’s obsession began with the Disney sticker books when she was about 10 months old. Her toddler cousin has a Frozen Sticker Scenes book that she absolutely loved, and wouldn’t put down.
I thought she liked the story, so I tried to find her her own copy to take home with us, but I could only find one sticker scenes book at the time; Moana Sticker Scenes. I bought that and she liked it OK, but then, back home, I found her four more, including the original Frozen book.
We started with Zootopia as she had a fascination with animals, and she loved the story and enjoyed watching me place the stickers.
Now 6 months later, at 16 months old, she places the stickers herself – we’ve been slowly making our way through all the books – and then proceeds to pull them off again.
These 5 sticker books really are her favourite of favourites right now. I guess she likes the activity aspect of the books and she still pulls at the stickers even though we’ve finished putting them all in their correct places.
Age Range
These sticker books are designed for 4-year-olds and up, but if your child has been lucky – or unlucky enough – to have seen one or more Disney movies, and they’re between 1 and 3, maybe give the Sticker Scenes books a chance – especially since on the cheaper side of the books available to toddlers.
Story:
I’ve noticed some have a better story quality than others, for example, the Cars Sticker Scenes book does not tell the story in much detail, however, the copies of Frozen, Moana and Zootopia tell the story rather well, condensing the movie into a short 10-12 page (and paragraph) mini story, complete with fun stickers for the little one. Now, I haven’t read all the Disney Sticker Scene books, but from what I’ve seen, the older editions may have a more limited story line, where as the newer editions seem to have a pretty decent summary of the story included. Perhaps, the earlier edition’s were geared toward younger children than they are now.
Price
The average puzzle book would cost me around $10 and the average picture book about $8, whereas, the Sticker Scenes books come in at around a third of the cost.
Plus, my little one seems to love these books as much as the actual Disney movies – or more! Which means less time trying to get in front of the TV:) And these sticker books are definitely a favourite over any other book around home at the moment, and have been for the last few months.
Our collection currently holds the titles below, and I would recommend them all, except for the Cars edition, due to the limited story line:
- Frozen Sticker Scenes
- Cars Sticker Scenes
- Zootopia Sticker Scenes
- Moana Sticker Scenes
- The Jungle Book Sticker Scenes
- Finding Dory Sticker Scenes
For current prices and to get your own copies check your local bookshop or newsagent, or online from Amazon (US readers) or Booktopia (Australian readers).
How to Use Sticker Scenes Books:
- For the toddler, it’s a fun activity book to play with, with mum or dad. Help your child pull the stickers off, and find the correct page and help them place in on the picture.
- Ask them to identify animals, objects and characters in the book.
- Read the story to them slowly, adding in fun quotes from the movie! You may have to shorten the stories a bit, to keep your child engaged.
- If your child is over 2 and a half, they will probably be able to place the stickers themselves, but will still need your help reading the story.
Individual Reviews:
Zootopia Sticker Scenes
Zootopia Sticker Scenes is an excellent title with over 40 stickers, to help create the scenes from the movie. The summary story is told over 11 pages, with a lot of text, making it one of the better quality Sticker Scenes books, and tailored more to the older child. Follow and complete the scenes as Officer Judy Hopps and Nick try to solve the mystery of the missing animals.

The Jungle Book Sticker Scenes
The Jungle Book Sticker Scenes is an excellent title with over 40 stickers, to help create the scenes from the original Disney movie. The summary story is told over 12 pages, with a lot of text, making it another of the better Sticker Scenes books. Follow and complete the scenes as Mowgli, Bagheera, and Baloo share their adventures.

Moana Sticker Scenes
Moana Sticker Scenes is a beautiful book with over 40 stickers, to help create the scenes from the Disney movie. The story is 11 pages long, with large paragraphs of text, in a strange font, tailored to the older child. Complete the scenes and follow as Moana and Maui struggle to save the World.

Frozen Sticker Scenes
My copy of Frozen Sticker Scenes is actually the 2013 edition and has over 50 stickers. The newer edition is published in 2015 and has fewer stickers (over 40.) I expect it is the same book, as it has the same cover, but am not 100% certain. My edition is a visually stunning sticker book with scenes from the movie following Elsa and Anna through their separate adventures.

Finding Dory Sticker Scenes
Finding Dory Sticker Scenes is a nice sticker book of the recent Disney movie and includes 40 stickers. The true to movie story line is neatly told over 11 pages. Stickers are large and can be repositioned, nice for little fingers and hands. This is another visually stunning sticker book following Marlin and Nemo helping Dory on her adventure to find her newly remembered parents.

Cars Sticker Scenes
Cars Sticker Scenes is another of the earlier editions of the series, which may explain the limited text or story in this book. It boasts over 40 stickers to help create the scenes from the movie. However, there is not much of a story; only a few summary sentences. I really enjoyed the other books, as they neatly retold the story of the movie, but Cars Sticker Scenes doesn’t come close. When I find a copy of Cars 3 I’ll be interested to see if the story telling has improved in the recent publication.

Cars 2 and Cars 3 are also available, but I have not viewed these two sticker books yet.
